On 21 June the Committee on Petitions is organising a public hearing on Transparency and Freedom of Information. Academics, representatives from civil society and European institutions will exchange views with the MEPs on the issue of transparency and free access to information and documents with a particular focus on these issues in environmental matters.

The legal framework on transparency and practical aspects of its implementation will be examined together with the issue of balancing transparency and confidentiality in the context of the EU institutions work.
